Are you, or are you not a snob photographer? Or are you a "real" photographer?

The answer, my friend, is to be found by reading the fstoppers article below.

I'm not good enough to be a photographic snob. I do it for the enjoyment.

In that article, I don't do 6, 8, or 9.

Seems a bit tongue in cheek to me.

However, to answer your question, I'm just a photographer. I know what I want from a scene. I know how to expose that scene to achieve that. I know the processing steps I need to take to produce the photograph. All of that before even looking through the viewfinder, at the viewfinder, or perhaps even touching a camera.

Last item I think about is processing! What you see is what you get!

Loved this article. Humor aside, I sometimes get the feeling that photography has become all about pushing buttons to produce a "perfect" image, and every imperfection which can make the picture real, is edited out.

If I understand "Snob", it refers to a person that considers their opinion the only "Correct" Opinion.
A Snob lacks Humility, they are never Wrong.

As Ravel said to the woman who shouted out "Madman" after hearing Bolero at its premier, "Ah, you understand."

I agree. I'd like to see the finished product as near to what I would see if I see the person in the flesh or the scene as it actually exists. I like perfection, but on occasions it goes way too far in post-processing.

Having said this, I fully and respectfully acknowledge that the final produce composition resides in the photographer.

Those characteristics sound extremely familiar . . ..
