My MacBook book screen is dying!

It’s flickering with lines on left and bottom of the screen. It’s barely readable. It’s time to buy a new computer anyway, but Apple just came out with the M1 chip and a new line of computers. Unfortunately they do not offer a 16 ~ 17 inch MacBook like the one I had and want to replace. I read that a bigger MacBook may be coming in March. I just managed to back up my HDs. I’m using my iPhone to post this message. I’m planing on holding off until the new bigger MacBook is available. This means I’ll be going cold turkey for a while!

Why not an LG 27 inch monitor?

That might work if my MacBook Pro can drive it. I don't know if it's the screen or the screen driver chips that is failing?

Can you borrow a monitor?

Does your TV accept an HDMI signal? Does the MAC have one to send?

Better, I have an old unused one if I knew how to hook it up. My computer nerd son will visit soon; I get him to help me.

Let him know ahead of the visit in case he wants to bring a cable or two.

Good idea. I'm going to call him.

In addition to calling him, I suggest you send him photos of the connection ports on both the MacBook and the monitor, so he can see what he'll be dealing with. Be sure the markings by the ports show up in the photos.

Good idea. My spare monitor is old and does not have an HDMI port.

Huh? I don’t understand your question.
If you are asking if my son attached a new monitor to my laptop, no, it will be months before he visits me.
