What a photograph! It is both majestic and poignant, and I am sure you know where I am coming from!

Optic, great capture with the ice and birds. The sky is not doing too much for you here. How about living dangerously and cropping it to just above the birds?

Thanks, orphoto:
The choices one makes when taking and cropping a shot are and should be subjective. It's part of what makes photography an art. Often, physical and technical limitations determine a photograph's final composition as do other, equally powerful factors involving learned cultural responses and stylistic, aesthetic, influences. In many, probably too many, cases, my compositions suffer from being forced into a given aspect ratio required for framing or publication.
