It really helps out when you have most all the elements in your favor:
1. The background or setting
2. The weather
3. The model
4. The moment
This looks best in download mode

Breathtaking pivotal moment!
Enchanting lifestyle editorial...

What could have been done to improve?
Not a great idea to shoot up a model's nose...
Best never to have a model looking directly at the sun...
Tension in the wrist (especially the left wrist) is a detractor...
Coach the talent to point her toes gracefully... a ballerina's arched foot is to be cherished...

Creative directors will tell the talent to balance on their bodies (not their hands)
As for shooting up a model's nose? Hair flips by inexperienced talent typically result in their head rising way too high... show them how to fix a gaze on the lens before the flip and try to return to this at the end of the flip... i.e. cutting the move short...

Also explain to the talent that this is a gentle toss, not a "whip"... best to catch the precise moment when the hair just begins to fall back down... i.e. has lost all it's acceleration and most of it's velocity...

btw, the aforementioned comes from too many years of brutal experience...
Hope this helps Brent... Thank you for sharing...

Love her long sleeve full length print dress!

Thomas, I consider you the master here on UHH Regarding photographing models. Everything you say has experience behind it, and I appreciate you taking the time to point out things that you have learned over the years To help improve my photography. Thank you very much.

Brent I've enjoyed watching your journey here on UHH...
Also keep in mind I primarily shoot Beauty, Fashion and Dance (including Yoga)...

As such I study the top commercial phototraphers who's work graces the major publications for these genre...
Recommend YOGUE and Elle for fashion... Allure for Beauty... Pointe for Ballet... and Yoga Journal for Yoga.

It is surprising how very little the visual statements latent within have changed over the past decade...

If I lived in your locale then Surfer would likely be a magazine of choice! lol
Thanks for the kind words Brent...

A beautiful image Brent. I have wanted to get into model shots but have not connected with a model so far. I have also been very impressed with the work of Thomas and probably wouldn't have noticed the minor corrections that he mentioned, although I agree on the wrist and feet. I would be very happy to have taken a shot like this one. Click Click.

Here's something that you may want to explore: Ask a pretty girl or handsome man if they would like to pose for some photos and in exchange you would give them all the photos for free. I've done this on more than one occasion and easily more than half the time they accept and both parties come out winners. Of course you don't want to come across as being "creepy"! click, click SpyderJan!

Check out Model Mayhem. As a photographer you have to register (to reduce the chances that you are just a perv). There are tons of models ranging from TFP to highly experienced ($$). All have photos and bios and what they will and will not shoot (guns, nudity, etc.). MM is my main source for talent. I always have an in-person consult first to clarify expectations and personal style. With one exception (she showed up stoned) all have been very successful.
