Another nice set of pictures Fran. The flower looks like an aqualegia (columbine) in the process of opening up. They grow wild and flower in late spring /early summer. They are available as hybrids in most nurseries these days. See attached image. Don't think they are poisonous but then again, many common flowers are and others are edible. Don't think it's wise to experiment.
