Thank you for stopping by and commenting. I've found that my photographs of The Canyon have improved as I've gotten to know it better. My first attempts were pitiful due to the overwhelming nature of the scene before me. It's similar to trying to take a meaningful portrait of someone one hardly knows.

This is a classic shot, Bob. It captures the enormity of the canyon better than any of mine did.

Thank you, Ourspolair. This was a trick as there were a number of other tourists around and I was trying to keep from getting them in the photograph.

Beautiful capture and exquisite rendering. I like how you chose to position yourself so that the shadow of the tree clearly delineated the edge of the cliff, making us realize that it fell away rapidly. Often, photos taken close to the edge lack something like that and the edge blends into the midground. Stellar work as always. Please stay well and keep on giving us images to work towards.

Tom, thanks for stopping by and leaving a comment. I appreciate that. I lived in Az. for some 12 years before I visited The Canyon. Then, the visit was with a Geomorphology class. I wish I hadn't waited so long, as well.

Thanks, John. I agree. The north rim is quite photogenic. It's also a very long ride. I'm planning on a north rim trip in the future, though.

This shot was taken during a tour bus trip. I was completely "touristing" it about a year ago. The train ride to and from, the bus trip to the west end, etc. It was a fun filled day.

That’s beautiful, Bob. You have captured the real essence of the Canyon.

Side note: I found the North Rim more interesting--at least more photogenic--than the bus-toured South Rim, though both are majestic. Am I assuming correctly that you took your shot on further west of the tour bus stops?

Thank you very much, d3200prime. Part of the composition was trying to avoid the fellow tourists I was with on this trip.
