I have two, one for Oly and one for Canon. Both work fine, not much that can go wrong. Some after market batteries do not register but so far all of mine do.

And yet you bought the expensive D850
Yes. Because there is no substitute.

Just because it doesn't say Nikon on the battery doesn't make them all junk. But hey...Good for you for buying name brand batteries. Lets all have a drink. lol
However, many people believe it does.

Buy a real Nikon one. You plan to put junk batteries in your new Nikon as well? You paid for a D7500, support the thing.
I don't think Nikon makes a grip for the D7500.

No problems in ten years. Granted, not all batteries are ten years old.
I don't buy OEM wiper blades, air filters, tires, batteries, light bulbs, ... for my cars either.
I had a boss that with that attitude, he would buy cheap $19.99 drills, about one or two per week, whatever junk was on sale. I paid $169.00 for a Milwaukee 3/8" drill about 42 yrs ago. It gets used just about every day a side from the cordless. (I'm a General Contractor) Just sayin. I'll let you do the math.

Yes - Don't get anything other than the battery Grip Nikon sells for your specific camera.
Nikon does not offer an OEM grip for the D7500, the only choices are aftermarket.
I have used Neewer, Meike and Vello grips on my other Nikons (D3200, D90, D7200) , all work well.

Funny, I can't find a reference to one anywhere.

Bill you are right Nikon does not make a grip for the d7500
I don't use battery grips , they are to bulky for me , it takes me a second to put a fresh battery in my camera . I don't see what the big deal is.
I purchased a Meike grip for my Nikon D750 which worked well. But my suggestion would be to look at used OEM grips; bought a like new one for my D800E from Robert's Camera at a great price.
I have Nikon DSLR cameras (2 D700, 1 D750, and 1 D850) I NEVER use 3rd party accessories. I have bought a couple of USED battery grips, but always Nikon brand.
The reason I have all those DSLRs is because I shoot photos with kids with the Easter Bunny, and kids with Santa at a local mall (except for this year when everything was cancelled due to Covid19).

I'm looking to purchase a battery grip for my Nikon 7500. There seems to be quite a few random brands on Amazon with mixed reviews. Anyone have a reccomendation?
I have Vello grips for both my D850 and my D500. Have had them for about 2 years and they work great.

When I purchased my Canon 5D Mark II and and my Canon 5D Mark IV it was part of a bundle. The battery grips were included. I got these bundles from B&H. The bundles came with other stuff too. But they are Canon’s battery grips. I have yet to have any problems with them or the Canon batteries I have also purchased.
For my Canon 5D Mark II, I purchased separately a Wireless File Transmitter from Canon. They are more expensive than knock-offs but I don’t worry about buying new more often.
For batteries, I buy original. I am afraid of a knock-off battery leaking in the battery compartment.

Other than the extra battery there are some advantages.
Repositioned shutter button helps when shooting vertical
The extra weight/bulk helps balancing the camera when using a physically long lens (my main reason for using them)
Option to use standard AA batteries in a pinch
