Just wanted everyone to know Adorama and B and H just knocked $500.00 off of the Nikon D850. I've been using a D7100 for quite a while and have been looking to upgrade. I know the D850 isn't the latest model but the reviews are stellar. I just pulled the trigger. It's on back order but it'll give me time to read up on it. Gary

Gary you will love it. I think this camera has taken me to a new level, or maybe I am finally picking up on it. I have owned the D200, D300, D810 and now the D850. The D850 has some really great features. The D810 is no slouch either. Congrats!

I have had the D850 for several months. I think you will be very happy with it. The low light capability is very good. I have pushed it to the limit a few times with good results. The 24 mp gives you a lot of room for cropping without degrading the quality. It handles very well and the controls and very accessible.
It compares favorably with the D5 in image quality. The frame rate is not quite as fast, but the exposure and focus systems are in a par with the D5

I have shot many different assignments in many different lighting situations and have always gotten very good results.
The attached photo was shot with the D850 with a 400 f2.8 lens from one end zone of a TD at the other goal line and was very heavily cropped.

At first. I couldn't believe the reviews the D850 was getting. But, they just kept coming. I can't wait! Gary

That is an impressive shot at that distance. The colors are brilliant. Gary

The 850 is still the top of it's line and ticks just about all my boxes.
It hasn't been superseded by a newer version yet (the D860 or 880?).
That's rumored to happen in early 2021.
I'm still using the 810.

Among other improvements, with the 45mp sensor, I particularly like to option to shoot smaller raw files when you know you won't need full rez files.
Enjoy!!!!

Yesterday my refurbished D810 arrived from B&H. It only had 176 shutter clicks on it and is pristine. Bad weather today so no going out for photos but I have been setting up the menu and getting used to the controls as they are different than the D750.

Best wishes with your new camera. I know I will enjoy mine.

Dodie

Actually Nikon knocked $500 off. Any authorized Nikon dealer should be selling it for the same price. If anyone is impatient they may find a dealer with the camera in stock. or not.

A few years back I was thinking about upgrading a D4s to a D5. I got a D850 instead and I am not sorry.

That was lucky!
Hope you have the good lenses to use with it.

Great find. Now, if they would just knock that much off the D500, I would be more than satisfied.

You’ll have to get used to some big ole files!

Nikon just came out with a new model with similar specs and price as the 850. Maybe they want to get rid of the 850's. Hey, Christmas is coming. Maybe they will drop your 500 too. Good luck. Gary
