I visited Rushmore a few years ago and I have to say I was surprised at how close the walking trail actually goes to the cliff and faces. Through my younger years and on into the digital age (I got interested in photography only about 10 years ago) all I ever saw was the standard shot, as it would appear from the top of the amphitheater or from the highway. The close-up views certainly gave a new appreciation for the 'mass' of the project. Again, cool shot.
