Beautimus images SkipWV! Former Lewis/Berkeley/Monongalia county resident wishing he was back "home" again. Somewhere at my mothers house there is a picture of my father and me cooking hot dogs on sticks at Blackwater Falls in the late 50's early 60's. Been back many times since but no hot dogs on a stick and dad is no longer with us. The Babcock image brought back memories to one of the last family get togethers. It also answered the age old question about if a tree fell in the woods.. we were all sitting around talking when a silent branch dropped from a tree and fell on my head/back/shoulder. (A lot of blood, no stitches tore my favorite t-shirt) No one in the group heard a sound so it answered the age old question aaand gave me an excuse to act the way I am. Thanks for sharing.

Fall in the mountains in West Virginia usually is a photographer's paradise. The variety of settings, land features, the rivers, and the colors of the mixed hardwood and conifer forests is hard to beat. Here are a few from several trips there this year. Comments, critiques, and suggestions are welcomed. Enjoy!

Wow, you did quite a bit of driving, Skippy. Well worth it, too. Due to a home remodel project, my trip to Tucker Co. got pushed back to the end of this month. Glad you got out for the colors, even if I won't. Good to see the falls so full of water.

I have vacationed in West Virginia and it is a beautiful state. Why did you eliminate the roof in the last image?

Nice photos skipwv! I photographed the Glade Creek Grist Mill in April about a year in a half ago and got some nice wall hangers. I have driven old Highway 50 a few times across the state, what a spectacular drive!
BTW, what’s with the roof in the last photo of the mill?

It's a beautiful location, as is Rt. 50 in the Fall. The second photo of the mill is more straight-on and you don't really see the roof itself. Rather, you see the trees behind it. I like the first one better but included the second on because of the rocks in the stream.
