I keep telling myself I'm going to attend this out-of-world event...

I have followed Burning Man through the eyes and camera lens of Trey Ratcliff for the last 8 years or so. Looks like quite the experience.

I went in 2010. I had a new camera. Wrapped it using duct tape and a zip lock bag. Safe from dust but... There is a funny story, the short of which is Nikon's are tough.

BM was a unique experience. I loved the art. Jane captured it well. That’s what it is like.. Then there is night... and things change more people show up more art appears.

Burning man is radical self expression and self reliance, community and art. Yeah it is all of that. But that is not all. It's more. it’s hard to put it all into words.

It is a unique event. The light is really beautiful, unique and challenging. The environment is harsh. But there are amazing photo opportunities for those willing to brave the challenges. Jane did a good job of capturing the feeling of BM.

I agree with what you said, not from my first hand experience though, but from what I have read from others that have experienced being there. Besides self reliance, from what I have also read, there is also sharing and helping others that maybe were not as prepared for the experience as well.
