YEA, YEA, YEA. I finally get to shoot today all my HOG friends. I will get to shoot two games actually the Varsity football game and also the Freshman game which my grandson plays on. It wasn't easy though. The Athletic Director called me and said You can only get in if you have a ticket and I could probably get ticket from the coach. They were only handing out two per player. He said they would probably have some left over. BUT I would have to sit in stands and shoot from there. I told him I shoot for MaxPreps which is a big deal and they are owned by CBS Sports, thinking that would help and which he already knew. I told him that shooting from stands wouldn't work. I do have a Nikon 200-500MM f/5.6 which is a super nice lens. But even with that shooting from stands wouldn't be the quality I needed. he then said he was going to a game with a next door district and would see what they were doing with Media and photographers and we would see how things went in a week or so. I told him I probably wouldn't even go if I couldn't get on field, although I would go to see grandsons Freshman game. He called back two more times and we talked a little the last time he said he would talk to someone else about this and get back with me. I thought yea whatever (you know before hell freezes over). Well he called back in about thirty minutes and said you are good to go, and you don't need a ticket. I had told him before that the state KSHSAA (Kansas State High School Athletic Association) had said Media Photographers could shoot from 10 yard lines to the end zones. He said yes they would have us do that. He also asked about if I had a badge or some other credentials from MaxPreps. I said yes and that they were really strict about wearing it and what we do, they don't mess around and would get rid of you if you don't follow the rules. It really pays off knowing and being friends with school officials and Athletic Directors. I really hope I remember how to take photos, I guess we will find out in about 4 hours. I hope I didn't bore you guys and gals. I am just so excited. I hope if any of you have any stores about things happening to you that you would post and let the rest of us know. We sports Photogs need to stick together. Thanks

Tom

Happy for you Tom. Shoot tight and wait for the action to come to you. I know you have a 200-500 vr 5.6 lens. Let that lens do your work. Good luck and post when complete. ps use your monopod, you will get tired of holding that beast. I won't shoot until March or so. Yuk

Thanks guys. I will post some when I get through with post work. I really don't want to admit this but I really screwed up. I guess it has been way too long since I really shot something. I am going to tell you though as we all should be honest with each other. Here goes. I had my settings on WB Shade. It was straight up sunlight. The colors were really strange. I apparently didn't check as I should have before I started shooting. I usually check things before I leave the house to get as close to what I need to be shooting at. I really hate because the one game was my grandsons first Freshman game. Also I got to shoot varsity in the daylight. I usually don't shoot Varsity anymore because of the dark, I just can seam to get it right. Going to try and do some Lightroom work and see what it looks like. I will post some when I get some done. Thanks to all of you. Oh yea , most were shot from a distance. They did have it so players had from the 10 to 10 yard line for a players box. But I don't know why and how they got away with it but they were all bunched up. What can I say. So I did get some up closer from the track surface.

Lightroom should help a lot with the problem.
