Maybe only once or twice does not matter. It will be there when you want to shoot with it. Money comes and goes. But enjoyment is sometimes just a fleeting moment. Go for it young man. And enjoy it.

[quote=saxman71]I understand. Here's what I do on a regular basis for hummers. Take a folding chair to a spot by a bush that produces flowers that hummingbirds like. Sit there quietly and patiently thinking about all the wonderful times you've had in your life or the sorry state of the current world - your choice.

Those images are amazing, and your advice is also very sound. Thank you for your understanding.

BTW, I ordered the lens this morning - quite a performance as their website was acting up. Now I have to sit and wait patiently for delivery. Thanks to all you guys who egged me on - I love you all. Be well !!!

I just found a nice tele lens on sale locally - Zuiko 75-300 mm, for my M43 Oly (that's 150-600 as a 35mm equivalent, for those who don't follow this format). I already have a great 14-150, but it drives me crazy that every time the hummers come to my yard, the distance from my walkout denies me enough detail at full zoom.

The answer is easy. Do you feel light headedm GAS. But, sounds like the suffering will be worth it.

Where is "local?" Sounds like a very good price. Used or new? Given that I have an Olympus, the interest is not casual.

I must share your craziness. I bought a lens for what will likely will have been a once in a lifetime use: shooting the Milky Way in Big Bend. But that was the cheap part after the RV rental, etc.

So, please tell me I am not crazy. I am in my eighties, and I just got paid for some freelance work. My wife says "treat yourself". Does it make sense to buy a lens that may only get used once or twice a year. We can't travel anywhere until Covid settles down, and this part of Ontario is a far cry from landscape scenic. I do already have a bridge camera with a 30x zoom and great IQ, but I really want to put it away and focus on mastering the Olympus fully before I die. So, is it GAS? Please be kind with your comments.

Any other good suggestions to extend the use of this lens would also be welcomed.

Try Malox with simethicone. That will ease your mind and any othervresidual "stuff."

I bought from Henry's a small chain in Canada with some stores in Ontario and a mail order division. However, I subsequently found that the Cdn$150 discount is a direct promotion by Oly themselves. B&H are offering it for US$399, which is also a huge discount from the regular price of $549, so the promo is both sides of the border apparently. If I lived down your way, I would buy from B&H. Check out their website, I think it ships free.

This is definitely not GAS. I bought this lens a few months ago and it is an amazing value. It is not perfect, since it is a bit slow. However, to be able to get 600mm equivalent for this price and in such a small and lightweight package is nothing short of astonishing. Go for it! You will not be disappointed.

Get it. It may be gas but you deserve it, you worked for it, you earned it.
