There’s many folks recommending Photoshop Elements (PSE) and I certainly agree with them. I even use it for for IR editing with surprising success. However, a free application definitely worth looking at for simpler adjustment is FastStone Image Viewer. Not is it an excellent viewer but it also has numerous useful editing tools. It can view and edit jpegs, raw files, PSE edited images Tiffs, and many I haven’t explored. Highly recommended. Here’s a link:

Photoshop Elements: You buy it once and it's good for years. It will do the job based on what you've described. Learn Expert Mode which almost always trumps Quick and Guided Modes. Learn the Keyboard commands. There are some things you can't do without keyboard commands and many things you can do much faster with keyboard commands. When I print photos I always print them from Elements. I don't know anything about Apple Photos, but I know the Elements results are much better than with the Windows 10 Photo Editor.

Check the system requirements if your computer is older.

Linda I have been sick and not being able to use my desktop for editing. I have Elements on that plus some others. I am using my IPad and Snapseed for editing. My question to you can I get Elements for my iPad? I don’t mind having it on two things as my desktop is Windows. Thank you for any help you can offer me.

I will concur with Linda and Steved3604, PSE is a one time purchase for under $100, less later in the year, and the current versions (I have 2019) are nearly the same as the full PS that requires the cloud at $10 per month ($120 a year). It has color sliders, haze removal, layers, spot or object removal, and much more.

I've found PSE very adequate for processing RAW and jpg photos. I shoot RAW only and open them in Camera RAW in PSE, make some basic changes and open it in the editor, make a copy or two and remove the imported jpg. Then I work on the copy, flatten the image and save it with a fitting title as a jpg. Then I can go back to the partially processed RAW file and open it and return it to the original, as shot, image.

It may seem like a little extra work but I can have my PPed jpgs for distribution, display or sharing but still have the original RAW file if I wish to play with it more.
I will concur with Linda and Steved3604, PSE is a ... (show quote)

That is what I do as well. Works great for me.

I just happened to peek back into this topic to see what people were still discussing after six pages 😊 In future, please feel free to send me a pm. I rarely follow a topic after a day or two.

I found this link for a PSE app, but it appears to be merely a tutorial:
https://apps.apple.com/us/app/photoshop-elements-for-photographers/id722772024

Adobe shows compatibility only with Windows and Mac operating systems, not iPad:
https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop-elements/system-requirements.html

Hope you are feeling better. All the best.

I highly recommend On 1 Photo RAW. Go to the On1 website and check it out. Lots of free training and no subscription required. I have used PS Elements, Apple Aperture and Apple Photos and if you're not going to do Photoshop, give On1 a try. There is a learning curve with all software but I think you'll find this up and coming company is doing a great job on providing support and the software is very robust. Like all software, I believe there is a 30-day free trial period so check it out.
