Time moves on... A view of some changes in Chicago.
The Jewelers Building (35 E Wacker) dome in 1976 and 40 years later on a cloudy day in 2016 - from about the same angle, taken from the observation deck of the Kemper Insurance building (1 East Wacker), formally the United Insurance building, designed by C. A. Metz. The older photo is from my drafting table when I worked as a young architect for Metz & Assoc., who used the top floor for their offices back then. In the 2016 pic, you can barely see the "bean" (Cloud Gate sculpture) in what is now Millennium Park, but was the Illinois Central railroad yards in 1976. [older photo scanned from Ektachrome slide]

Very interesting historical capture.
I visited Chicago in 2013 and got some photos of the "Bean". I was told its real name was "Cosmic Cloud".
