FSS was mentioned in this
threadAs usual I became curious so I went for it...
First a youtube search. I found a couple of videos, all slightly different.
I had to try it and see by myself.
I selected a throw away image that I had not deleted for some reason and played with it.
Since I was going to use filters I selected to open as smart object (just in case)
Duplicate the layer twice
Rename the lower copy 'Blur' (how original)
Select Gaussian filter with a low radius (1.0~3.0 - Changed it to 2.0 Note that i could just have not used it!!!)
Rename the upper copy 'Sharpen' (hey i crave for originality)
Use
Image>Apply (You will need to rasterize the layer.)
In the popup menu set
- Source (default)
- Layer (Blur)
- Blending (subtract)
- Scale and offset are usually set by PS CC and are fine. If not use 2/128
- Press ok
Set the layer mode to 'Linear light'
Create a curve adjustment layer
Set the mid point (127 or 128)
Clip to the layer below (down arrow)
Visually adjust the dark side.
Adjusting the light side is also possible but this quickly will create a fringe
Since I am a bit of a creep i created two more clipped curve layers adjusted individually.
The result was that I created a dark fringe
Still being creepy I grouped all the layers into a group named FSS and adjusted the opacity.
