Two different seed heads that were well on their way to shedding all the seeds. And I redid the editing on both using newer apps and doing things a bit different on each.
Shot in heavy shade just before sundown in March this year. The next morning was our watering day and the sprinklers finished them both off.
#1 7DII, 100-400L + 1.4x III @ 560, 1/250 @ f/11, ISO-400 hand held with fill flash
#2 7DII, 100-400L @ 400, 1/500 @ f/11, ISO-400 hand held with fill flash on high speed sync
#3 = #2 flipped to see if I liked it better facing the other way. I think I do, English speakers see the left to right orientation as more natural because we read and write from L>R. Ah, what the heck, #4 a reverse of #1 for the same reason.
I do think I should have dialed down the power on the fill flash just a bit.
Hit wrong key when distracted and sent before I added the images. Corrected
Don't know if I agree about the fill flash, because these look great to me.

Thanks, with the OOC I had to back off the highlight and white slider and contrast slider to get any detail in the puffy little strands
I don't see an issue with the flash either, unless it was responsible for the red background in #2. I find that rather distracting.
I'm not sure which I prefer #1 or it's flipped version, both are excellent.

OK, I will concede the lack of extreme detail in the white due to the flash is probably just my personal preferences. That red is an extremely out of focus terra cotta pot several feet away.
Thanks, one time when I look I prefer one version, the next time I prefer the other. I guess I am just stuck with two good versions.

A wonderfully accomplished series- one I’ve attempted several times with nowhere near your achieved excellence!

Sorry it took so long to respond but thanks to the mystery of computers and the net your post just registered on my feed along with Uuglypher's post dated today??????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????????
As one friend who was a military computer tech and code writer puts it: "Don't try to understand them, they work by black magic."

Thank you very much. Actually that is the same frame, just manipulated in different ways. And mostly by the "If I do this what will Happen?" method.
