I've never focused much, so to speak, on moths and butterflies, so not much to contribute to this challenge. However, I did find this hanging out on the side of my SUV's tire one day and snapped a photo with my iPhone. I'm pretty sure it's a luna moth caterpillar, so I guess it counts.

Sure looks like a Luna caterpillar via Google... kind of scary looking!

A fluttering "butterfly" caught my eye as I hiked along a trail on the Northern California coast. It settled down, I took a closer look, and realized that it was a pair of Sheep moths mating. Butterflies get all the acclaim, but these moths are incredible!

Wow, how wonderful to see this interesting looking creature! We have had a Luna moth visit once, so the possibility of seeing such a caterpillar is a valid hope that I can entertain!Thank you for posting this picture.

A friendly encounter with a moth:
A few years ago my husband David and I were attending a county fair, While sitting outside I noticed a moth had attached itself to the brim of David's hat! Upon studying it closer we decided that it was a Spamworm moth. At tyheend of the day the moth stayed at the fair and we returned home with a moth adventure to tell our family about!

Two moths with orange colouring: the first moth with orangecolouring is an orange underwing moth also known as the Infant, and secondly a Varigated Orange moth
