Thinking that it would be appropriate to have a challenge on butterflies and moths since the butterflies and

moths will be scarce soon. Monarchs Will be migrating to Mexico in the near future. They are such beautiful

pollinators. Here are a couple of great videos that are very good on the subject...

A Clearwing Hummingbird Moth. They love to feed on our lilacs !

The 'clearwing' significance of its name is emphasized in this photo of a Clearwing Hummingbird Moth that was seen feeding on a yellow Devil's Paintbrush. The Transparency of the Moth's wings allowed the beautiful yellow of this wildflower to show through as you can see by the pictures included below.

A pretty yellow moth: A False Crocus Geometer moth also know as a Xanthotype Moth

Several years ago I found a pretty yellow moth in our yard. I found its id and discovered that this moth actually was known by two names. I found that it was called a Xanthotype Moth... Xanthotype is the Greek word for yellow!

Never have seen that one! Exciting find, FA! Outstanding color

Yes, I have discovered that some moths are actually very pretty! I have a few more to post and perhaps I will wait until tomorrow to post a few butterfly pictures. Thank you for your comment!
