Shield Bug

This is a little green shield bug that fell victim to the sticky fly strip hanging at our back door. Leaving the porch light on attracts many of the night insects although the flies appear to be mostly daylight catches.

They get a bit gooey when they get stuck to the strip so I wash the hard bodied ones off in alcohol such as I did this one. The moths and other soft bodied ones go the way they are.

This is a focus stacked image staged at 3.5X magnification.

Thanks, Kpmac. My fly strip has turned out to be quite the "lazy man's" way of collecting insects.

It can't be nice to get stuck on one of those fly traps. This is another nice shot.

Thanks, Brenda. I doubt that I would enjoy that either although it is an effective way to keep many of them from getting in the door as I tend to our family of dogs that go in and out.
