The only Aeolidia loui, Shag Rug nudibranchs I've seen were in Morro Bay. Yesterday I made a dock dive in King Harbor, Redondo Beach looking for anything interesting. Visibility was measured in inches rather than feet. I luckily found a bolt I had dropped in the water last week. A foot away from the bolt were two of the rare nudibranchs. I tried photographing them on the silty bottom but it was like shooting through cheesecloth. I scooped the nudis up with my stage and shot them higher in the water column where the visibility was almost two feet.
Wow! I've seen a lot of nudibranchs but nothing like these. Vis measured in inches isn't my kind of dive but I would take it for a look at these guys.
Thanks for sharing. Beautiful catch. The viz reminds me of my early diving days in Corona.

Super shots and wonderful models
Am I seeing some bio-luminescence - or is that from your illumination?
