In 2000, we began a new procedure in our house. For the next few years, our daughters (the older was already in high school} could choose the goal of our family vacation, and I would work with her to figure out the details. In 2005, our younger daughter chose Washington DC, and we added Philadelphia, Valley Forge, and Gettysburg to fill it out.
On our way between Washington and Philadelphia we saw an "Amtrak Station" sign in Wilmington Delaware, so we just had to get off. I found a place to park the car, then took longer than expected to capture a satisfactory view of the station, so I was already thinking of a hot auto with three ladies in it when two local cops stopped me to ask what I thought I was doing. They were not impressed by my answer that I had never taken a train picture in their state, so I spent an hour answering over and over again their questions. Only later did I realize that Senator Joe Biden went through this station twice a day to/from his office.

Thank you for your comment.
Yes, I was happy how this picture turned out.
It remains my only railroad picture taken in Delaware - I guess we need to find some other place, by actually looking sometime.
Looks how I vision English stations of the Victorian Era. Very Nicely done.

Yes, the country is littered with old stations built at a time when architects showed their expertise in designing the ‘gate to the city’.
