It was in 1920 that women finally got the right to v**e. Just one more state was needed to ratify the 19th amendment. It was a woman - the mother of a Tennessee legislator - who turned the tide. She was a college-educated woman who read three newspapers a day and kept up with what was going on. She knew that she had as much right as any man to cast a v**e.
The TN legislature was hopelessly deadlocked, with vicious attacks coming from the opposition. Harry T. Burn, at 24, the youngest state legislator, received a letter from his mother that persuaded him to make up his mind and cast a v**e for the amendment
I'm glad it finally passed because I doubt such an amendment would even be considered today.

You doubt that women would be given the right to v**e today??? And the idea wouldn't even be considered?
Why is that? Because you believe that the country is hopelessly sexist except for Liberals such as yourself?
Why would you think that? This is not a Muslim country. Many Americans have such a negative attitude about this country evidently unaware with the way many others are forced to live in many other countries on this globe.
It takes some international travel to realize what a GREAT country the United States is.
Well, I can see why this was moved to The Attic.
