I bought this E.Leitz enlarger at an estate sale of a WWII vet. I can't find any information on one like it. The closest thing to it would be the Valoy. Could this one have been modified.

The shape looks more like a Leitz Focomat 1c, but if that's what it is (was), then it does appear to have been modified. The Leitz enlargers had identification plates both on the head of the enlarger and on the pedestal near the base. The seam around the two halves of the enlarger head does not appear to match either the original Focomat or Valoy enlargers.

Antique enlarger!!!! It belongs to the museum. I do not think there is any practical use of it.

Seeing a Leitz Enlarger in the 1960's was a rare thing. Thanks for sharing.

This is the question I had about it. Are you sure it is a Leitz? Is there a name/brand plate anywhere on the enlarger, arm or base? Definitely belongs in a museum if it is a genuine Leitz, even for the poor condition.

I seem to remember they had a version which retained focus as you raised /lowered the unit on the column.?

There isn't a logo plate, it looks to have been painted on.
