Still trying to get my head round this camera but it,s starting to make sense the first one i did not think the focus lock would keep on against the reflections on the water but it did the swallow is cropped to about 1/4 of the original.

Good first efforts. The challenge with any new piece of equipment is investing in learning how it works and how it works for your photos. Keep doing more until it all becomes automatic for you - the camera becomes more of an extension of your eyes and your vision. But, be aware. This can cause you to yearn for longer focal length lenses.
