St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dawson City, Yukon Territory, Canada

I’ve been to Alaska and Canada twice with John Hall’s Alaska agency, and have been to Dawson City both times. In 2014 during our free time I wandered into the St. Mary’s Catholic Church. These are my photos of that experience.

Well, thank you, Mike! I don't think Dawson City is representative of the whole country, though. (Of course, I have recently posted other Topics of places in Canada.) Believe it or not, I don't only visit churches when I tour. I like to post sets about them, though, because I doubt that most canned tours cover them very well. The major cathedrals, yes, but even those are rushed through. (I'm usually rushed, too, but I ignore the guide and wander around by myself.)

St. Mary’s Catholic Church, Dawson City, Yukon Ter... (show quote)

Beautiful.
A change from the natural varnished wood of many Catholic and Episcopal churches.
Impeccable woodworhing.

Thanks very much, Bill. I, too, like to see some simpler facilities -- there is a certain grandeur in simplicity.
