The horseshoe object is in the middle at the axis. Looks like electrical wires going to its top to power the turning motor underneath.

Far too many of these have been destroyed in the name of "progress." Thanks for sharing this history before it joins all the others that came before it.

Yes Grayghost, we just lost one about 5 miles from my house this spring. Great building with a lot of history gone. I loved to go over and just make pictures of the building with different light and shadows each time.

I went there in 2007 because they have the ‘Silver Dome’, the first domed car, which the CB&Q built in their shops during World War 2. It was stored indoors, so I was a tad disappointed because the camera I had back then couldn’t handle the situation well. The museum is generally devoted to the NKP.
