Couldn't sleep last night

So what do you do when you can't sleep at night....I took the camera outside to play getting star shots. Went out at midnight and played around for an hour or so.....was soooooo quite not even the coyotes were howling....it was great.
I noticed that my time on the camera was set an hour off....I took these around midnight.

Hi Cindy
Nice shots. In the first picture of the big dipper you can see the double star Alcor and Mizar at the bend in the handle.
In the second shot you can see the double cluster in Perseus slightly up in the left of the shot and the Andromeda Galaxy fairly close to the center of the image. also appears to be some Aurora in the lower part of the picture.

Thank you so much for the info on the names of the stars and the Galaxy.....I was wondering what that was!! Yes the lights were out last night...I should have driven over to Lake McDonald to get some shots!

Nice ones Cindy Loss of sleep paid off. I do this alot. I leave my camera set at Zulu time year round. Helps remind me of the true position of the sun for lighting conditions.

Both are beautiful, Cindy. You made good use of your sleeplessness. Is that green now in the lower left of 2 from the northern lights you mentioned?
