I purchased a set of 95mm Altura filters for my Sigma 150-600mm Contemporary lens and upon trying the circular polarizing filter, I notice that all my shots came out blurry. Figuring it was a cheap filter, I spent more for a GOBE polarizing filter but the results were the same. I also noticed that it was difficult to take the filter off. Is there a unique thredding for my lens which is not universal? I have not experienced this problem with any of my Canon ot Tamron lenses. Help!

Sorry to say Jerry but it sonds like operator error and that the focus is shifting as you rotate the polarizing filter. To test that focus, lock focus with gaffer tape and then rotate the polarizer. Verify focus and click.

What focal length are your other lenses? Since there is a loss of light, it might be that it's motion blur from too slow a shutter speed. Were you hand holding the lens or was it on a tripod ?. We really need more info in order to give a better answer...

I use auto focus and have not rotated the filter.

Regarding focal length of other lenses, how does that matter? I used a tripod and took shots with a cable release. Non-filter shots look crisp at 600mm. All of my filter shots look blurry regardless of the focal distance. Strange.

Sorry, I don't think I replied in the right area.
Auto focus using a tripod. Not rotating the ring.
Any other thoughts?

I did notice that the filter was difficult to detach, which made me wonder about the compatability of the threading. I thought I put it on straight.

Threads are pretty much universal. It could be you cross threaded the filter when putting it on. That would make it difficult to put on an could keep the filter from being parallel with the sensor.

Some filters can upset CANON'S auto focus. I've experienced this on Canon's cheap 70-300, and my neighbour too, on a more expensive piece of glass. CPL's that size aren't going to come cheap.

I bet your camera does not autofocus at f/8. You said you were using AF. If the lens is at full extension, and you add a CPL, you are probably over f/8. Which camera body are you using. The lens is f/5-6.3.
