Yet Another Recluse

There may have been a lack of toilet paper around here a while ago however there is never a lack of Brown Recluse Spiders. I found this one in the house yesterday in a corner. Not too wise on its part for I collect and dispatch them at each encounter.

Thanks, Tinusbum. I've posted several of them over my time here which is both a good thing and a bad thing. Good that they make an interesting subject and bad that I am finding them here.

Thanks, Kpmac. Just another one of the many that I come across here.

Wonderful shot Gary. I don't mind spiders but I've been told we have these here in southern DE. That concerns me after I heard about the trials a neighbor went through after a bite,

Thanks, Doc. For some reason they must believe that I live in their home. Of course I have a much different opinion. I've come to identify them at first glance now and we dispatch them when we come across them. Those that I capture I dispatch with different means than the "Mexican Hat Dance" or the "Old Shoe" and I stage them for sessions such as this (squished specimens don't photograph well).

It doesn't look too happy, has a mean look to it.

Nice photo!

After being found guilty beyond a reasonable doubt and receiving the 'death sentence' the smile came off its face and this is how it will now be forever remembered.

I am glad I live here, I hope the dogs keep away from them. Nice shot though.

Brenda, for some reason they thrive around here and I dispatch well over a dozen of them each year.

Very good. It seems their distribution is very patchy. I don't have them at all where I live.

Thanks, Mark. I'm getting pretty good at dispatching them although not as good as I am with flies. We don't use any spray or insect baits at the house for concern of our family of dogs so we rely on fly swatters and the old shoe.
