My Oath
“I do solemnly swear that I will support and defend the Constitution of the United States against all enemies, foreign and domestic; that I will bear true faith and allegiance to the same; and that I will obey the orders of the President of the United States and the orders of the officers appointed over me, according to regulations and the Uniform Code of Military Justice. So help me God.”
I made this oat 57 years ago! My oath never expires.
For all my military retired and veteran friends, I challenge you to copy and paste this as your status. Replace my years with yours and then remember what that oath means, every word.

the basic behavior/nature of our politicians, these days, makes it very difficult to pledge absolute & unlimited allegiance to AMERICA. They have become as bad as third-world politicians. And sucking the wind out of everybody's sails...................................................................................................RJM sign me up for the revolution. Bob
I'm with you brother! The governor of New Jersey just said that that oath is above his pay grade, even though he swore to it!
And this has to do with photography how?
(I took the oath too, but this doesn’t belong here in the main photography section)

Yes, I took that oath March 10 of 1966 (54 years 3 months 27 days ago, but who is counting?). Oh, I was Regular Army, not a draftee, but after all these years that is a minor difference now. I just served a bit longer on active duty and a bit less in the reserves. After 2 years, 2 months and 2 days overseas time (all Vietnam-yes, I volunteered to extend 2X) my reserve status had me at such a low priority for recall that the Lt who signed us out at Ft Lewis in 1969 told those of us who were RA and multi tours in Vietnam that unless there were Soviet Tanks coming down our block they would be calling up squirrels and little old ladies before us.
Hell, if there were Soviet anythings on US Soil I would have gone to the nearest Induction Center, Guard or Reserve Armory and told them I was coming back on active duty.
And, yes, it does not have an expiration date that I remember and I don't care if it did have one, in my mind it doesn't.

Don't get in a tizzy, he just made a minor mistake and put it in Discussion instead of Chit Chat - Admin can fix that.

I took this oath August 8, 1966. I’m proud of my service, but it has nothing to do with photography and should be posted somewhere else.

I guess you have trouble reading section titles, this is NOT the "Main Photography" section; it is titled: "Upcoming Topics (new from all sections)"

So click on report issue and select, "wrong section". If admin agrees it will be moved.
You know what they say, "If you are not part of the solution, you are part of the problem."

"Defend the constitution" What does this mean today?
Support a president that is tearing down every social progress made in the past fifty years?
If so, sorry, you are barking at the wrong tree.

I feel like a youngster around here. I took the oath just 51 years ago. Still had time to play in the "Southeast Asian War Games and leave some blood behind."
Thanks for posting!
