If you contact the lens manufacturer, they will more than likely tell you that they will not cover the lens for warranty work.
Just save yourself the trouble and aggravation and buy it from a reputable company.

You were very lucky. Does it have a US Nikon warranty instead of the Abe's of Maine store warranty, If it doesn't then maybe you are not so lucky
