True Bug

This is a True bug from the Bill (newtoyou) collection that I staged for a focus stacking session. I do not know what species it is so perhaps Bill will help ID it.

I've included a full body picture of one like it (NOT MINE) that I found on Bugguide however it did not have an identifying name and Bill's specimen's wings are more clear than red.

Thumbs up to Muddyvalley. The Large Milkweed Bug.
One of the similar three. The small was posted here a few days ago.
In my area, Annapolis, MD, all three, Small Milkweed Bug, Box Elder(a maple) Bugs, and this one are avalible at the same time.
Gary and all. Red pigment in insects starts to fade in older specimens. It is also soluble in ethyl alcohol. It will fade, leaving a faint yellow behind. Sunlight, or any light, hastens the process.

Thanks, Bill. Thanks for sharing your collection of specimens and that explains why the wings are more clear in color although the blacks are still strong.

Thanks, Brenda. There's an old saying that goes, "Practice makes for more practice" or something like that.

Thanks, Napabob. Mother Nature is quite good at color coordination.
