I've been reading posts for a while, dove in with a couple questions and posted some replies and am FINALLY getting around to introducing myself. Sorry for the delay folks.
I've seen great support, responses, and guidance on many subjects and it's easy to see we have a lot of experienced & knowledgeable folks on this forum! I look forward to delving in deeper and asking some intelligent questions. :-)
Well, I've been a Nikon man since 1974 when I was almost 16 with my first SLR being a lightly used Nikkormat Ftn with a Nikkor 50mm f1.4 & 135mm f2.8. That started my journey up over many years to a Nikon F Photomic FTN, FA, F2-As with my final 35mm being a F4; with a half-dozen other Nikkor lenses & Nikon strobes.
In high school the Nikkormat won me a national photography contest and placed two of my pics in the NY Museum of Art for the winners of the contest for some (unrecalled) period of time. I did wedding & glamor photography with some of these to help get me through college. Back in those days and for 40+ years I used a Tiltall Classic Aluminum Alloy Tripod, and still have it! What a tank that tripod is.
My first foray into AF was with a N2020 and a couple AF lenses.
Then came digital with a D70 & D7000.
I've likely peaked my DSLR purchases with a D800 attached to a SunwayFoto Custom L Bracket. My main D800 lenses are the:
-Nikkor AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR,
-Nikkor AF-S 24mm F/1.8G RF ED, &
-Nikkor AF-S 60mm Micro f/2.8 ED
I also have a couple SB 700 & SB 600 strobes. When I use a tripod for macro work or product work, or long days of outdoor shooting with long lenses it's my Vanguard Alta Pro 253CT Carbon Fiber Tripod with SBH-50 Ball Head that bears the brunt of all that glass & metal.
A fair amount of this was bought used over the years, with my standard of mint or "like new" condition.
I am by no means a professional photographer; I just love to try to take some good & interesting photographs. My favorite things to shoot are clouds & snow scenes (we get a lot of both in Northeast Ohio!) as well as landscapes. I do take documentary pictures of my guitars and some other collectibles, hence the Micro Nikkor. I am as fascinated in night sky photography as I am clouds and look forward to learning how and trying my hand (and 24mm f1.8) to capture the stars & moon.
I hope to contribute some of my experiences & support to my fellow forum members and of course look forward to picking your brains as well! Thank you.
Aloha Dino92G and welcome to UHH. Taking photos is a whole lot of fun and posting them can get very exciting and much can be learned by most of the replies. Keep on enjoying taking those photos and then watching them come to life on your computer. After all todays technology has put processing on your computer and out of the dark room. Can be challenging but definitely a lot of fun. Hoping to see some of your photos here.

Welcome to UHH Dino, glad you finally joined us. I am also a Nikon guy. Still have my Nikon FTN and Nikkormat 35mm cameras and a couple of lens. Now shooting with a D7100 and D7200 and assorted Nikkor glass.
Have fun, learn and enjoy the forum.
