Hello . It appears that you do not have correct bulbs installed per instructions on rear of unit . That is unless what you have in is equivalent to proper bulbs . Bulb choice & its age is important in evaluating exposure & colour . How old are these bulbs( you say near new) ??

These bulbs have the same spec's. When I bought them, the originals were not available, that's why I did a closeup of the bulbs for you. I was an advertising photographer working for agencies on Madison Ave NYC and the bulbs had to be right. Not only did I use the viewer for 35mm, but also my 120 and 4x5 transparencies. I stopped using the Macbeth when I got a 36"x24" lightbox on its own stand...still use that big one ! I haven't used the Mcbeth in years, so I'm selling it.
