2021 is their real 50th Anniversary in any case. In the summer of 1971 I was interning at a lab run for the government at a place in Los Alamos NM when the local newspaper carried a story about a new tourist train running out of Chama NM - so of course I went there. The date was July 3rd. They had quite a crowd waiting for the train, and one of them told me that it was ‘sold’ out, so I took a few photos {the 3M ‘high speed’ slide film turned out not to work well}, then followed on the road for while. If I understood Dr. Robert Keller’s writings on the “Dead Goat Discussion Forum” correctly {Dr. Keller was an ME who was president of the first operating company} this was actually only their second week of operation.
