Well, knock me over with a feather and call me Shirley! Rather than its common line-up of drek programming like Ancient Aliens and The Curse of Oak Island, the cable network known as The History Channel is doing some solid history for a change! The other day it began a 3-part miniseries on Ulysses S. Grant; one of my favorite American heroes. Here is a preview: https://www.youtube.com/watch?time_continue=2&v=lhzBYakZZW0&feature=emb_title . I watched part one the other day and thought it excellent. It should replay regularly if you missed it, or you can later find the series thru your cable television streaming service or thru other streaming services soon.
A good thing to watch!

Watched it last night. Very interesting historical fact show including insight on his inability to cope outside of the military. When bored he drank. He was however an honorable man always trying to keep his family protected and fed.

Was looking forward to watching this program on the History Channel. BUT, what I watched was 2 hours of commercials interrupted by snippets of the program. Not worth watching, very disappointed.

I agree. I got tired of spending more time watching the commercials than watching the program. Finally switched it off and recorded the whole episode. Will watch it today by fast-forwarding through the commercials instead of wasting time watching them.

Grant beside when bored he drank, he also drank when he did not see his wife for long period of time. That fact is not point out. So far so good, let see what happen tonight.

That was an "infomercial", a long and continual advertisement of the documentary. I noticed that in the listings too. Hope you see the real thing!

I record virtually everything I want to watch so I can zap the commercials.

Too many advertisings. So we tape most of what we watch and skip right through the ads. Besides you see the same ads 10 times each night for months on end. DVR is the greatest thing in watching TV.

I have watched Part 1 & 2, very well done. Unfortunately there is a commercial every 5 minutes.

I do think part 2 had fewer commercials when compared to part 1. Still too many for such a program. Have to see how it ends tonight.

That fact is out,
I have read several books on Grant, and they have all talked about while in Ca. He had a drinking issue, because of missing his wife and family.
