I'm experimenting with tweaking my lighting diffusion so I did a session with my preserved little cricket at a 3X power magnification to evaluate the effect of the DIY modifiers placed on the IKEA LED desk lamps.
WOW - great result!! THANKS for sharing!

Thanks, I enjoy sharing my results...at least the ones that appear to have worked out.
Keep experimenting and posting. I love it.
another nice one............
your tiny vacuum is doing a good job, not a speck of debris 😉

Napabob, I do as much cleaning as possible and of course the storage in denatured alcohol helps float off much as well. I do a bit of "pecking" in post and I clone out the mounting pin as well.
Cleaning makes a HUGE difference. So much so that I received an ultrasonic cleaner last week to help facilitate my cleaning efforts. Distilled water and a few drops of dish soap. Put them on a pin and in the plastic cage to keep them from flopping around.
The bits of dust and crud come off fairly easy with the process of blowing them first followed by a soft artist brush and then lifting off some of what remains with a piece of Scotch Tape rolled around my finger.
The process takes a bit of time however I have nothing else to do all day and I have all day to do it.

A successful experiment.
Thanks, Brenda. I recall your guidance two years ago about getting the light closer to the subject and diffusing it and how you did it. I've built on that advice since then in my constant quest for better illumination.
