As a photographer that did a lot of weddings, now I am retired,and used a Bronica Square [] 2/14 square format...I am wondering if the New Digital Nikon D3500 has a shutter release cord to shoot on a tripod?

I don't think it comes with but it's an available option. I often find in a pinch that the self-timer will serve.

...not only that (for a couple of bucks) but you can also use SnapBridge to control your camera from a smart phone...welcome to the new world...!

Yes, Nikon Cable release is $26.50 on Amazon and a wireless Bluetooth is also available.

No cable release cord. Done thru SnabBrige and smart phone,
