ever notice the 2 kinds of auto focus?

Auto focus generally focuses on the object that is closest to the camera. That's why I use a single spot in the center of the viewfinder and BBF.

I had it set on a tripod with full screen auto focus... toggle switch.. these little finches are too fast to catch in flight free handed.. (to me).. so I rapid fire when they fly in... crop to suit what I catch later... it's interesting to see what all is hanging around...

The problem with "auto focus" is that the camera doesn't really know where you want to focus,
it guesses...

What a great shot of half an orange. Oh, you weren't shooting the orange? Sorry The House Finch is a great capture. What did we do before auto focus?
