For anyone who has ever dealt with the "business end" of a wasp, here's what it looks like up close. When you do a 'double download' you can see the stinger of the little bugger which is what I wanted to share.
The other thing that I found interesting is how its abdomen is segmented and I can envision how the plates fold and expand so that it can "scrunch its butt" as it dig its stinger into someone.
Well, no need to worry about this one any longer.
Wow, Great shot!!!!

Thanks, I have no hesitation in dispatching the wasps that try to run me out of my home and this was one of them. Strangely, I can walk the fields for hours and they pay no attention to me. At home when I walk out the door they want to buzz-bomb me.
I placed a piece of cloud patterned paper behind the wasp because I wanted the black to show up and I knew that a black background may not have worked as well.
As you have said before Gary, it's surprising where you find setae. I would have expected to see this looking like armor. You really bring the unseen to light my friend. Great shot.

Thanks, Doc. I truly appreciate your replies.
Thanks, I can say with experience that it is far better to see it than to feel it.

Thanks, Donna. The next time a wasp buzzes by you will know what their business end is like.
