With the current pandemic situation it can be difficult for many to get out and shoot. My camera club began doing weekly challenges of things we could do in and around the house and we are encourage to be creative. This week's challenge was Food. I did the usual shot of food on a platter in front of the window. I even baked the scones I used in the shot. I enjoyed it but I wanted to do something different and more creative. On a trip to the grocery store I whipped out the cell phone and began taking photos of the produce. I had in mind doing a landscape scene using the broccoli for trees etc. A young gentleman from the store approached me about what I was doing and I tried to explain it was for a photography project but I don't think he was too convinced. I assured him I meant no harm and quickly moved on.

Thanks to the ever vigilant store personnel I didn't get as many shots and varieties of produce as I would have liked and as I started on the project it became evident that it was going to take quite a bit of time to do it right. I was up to over 30 layers and not even half way to where I wanted to be. That was when I decided to create a portrait in produce. I may revisit the landscape idea at some time after a few more trips to the grocery store but this was a lot of fun to create and I completed my challenge. For those interested I have included my orange cranberry scone photo as well. No reshoots. They were delicious!

Wow, you've done it again. The first shot is wonderful. I assume you put the parts together with tooth picks, rubber bands and super glue. But then again, with you it could be a composite.

Heehee! Her mouth is a radish that had split open. I tried it the other way but she didn't seem like someone who would smile very often.

Jack it is all a composite. Maybe that is why the store personnel was unhappy with me. I kept picking up the produce and rearranging it to shoot but I didn't buy it. I did use hand sanitizer though and I bought eight frozen TV dinners!

Thanks Linda! These weekly challenges/activities are not a competition. Just something to keep the club members connected and engaged. They post a slide show of the weekly challenge on our website and on our Facebook page. Please check out our website if you would like to see more. This weeks challenge will be posted next week but you can see the previous weeks challenges.
