I've been using Premiere Elements for about 10 years. Recently I've been learning Premiere Pro (that you subscribe to). In many ways, Elements is the stronger program for single camera video shooting.

Premiere Elements uses (most of) the same codecs so basic quality is the same for HD and 4K. Video editing components are complete.

Perhaps unique to many is slideshow capability in Premiere Elements. If you turn on saving adjustment to sidecar files in Lightroom Classic, Premiere Elements will read the adjustments as you import the files. It is equipped with an ACR processor! No intermediate JPEGS or other processing is needed. Music is easily added. 4K output of the slides show to a USB memory stick is easy.

In other words you can go from RAW images, processed in Lightroom to a slideshow on your new 4K TV. Techniques like the Ken Burns pan and zoom are easy too.

If you've never done video editing there is a good 8 part tutorial on YouTube. In an hour or so, you'll be capable!

I bought Premier Elements 2020 for $59.99 from B&H. Received yesterday. I am impressed with the amount of filters and transitions, though the functionality seems inferior to the free version of DaVinci Resolve.

Premier Elements 2020 is complimented with Adobe Media Organizer and Face recognition in videos which is a pleasant surprise.

Thanks for the link.

I feel like I'm pretty good with Premiere Elements and have no knowledge or experience with DaVinci Resolve. Would you please expand on functions in Resolve that aren't in Premiere Elements?

Thanks in advance.

DaVinci Resolve is a high quality professional video editing program was cost about $300 last time I checked. The free version of it has the same functionality as the professional except they give you with it very few transitions and filters. So they let you get the taste of it, but that might be enough for some.

As any professional program it has plenty of controls, maybe as much as Premier Pro, and not so easy learning curve. There are some videos on YouTube you can see.

The reason I bought Premier Elements was the plenty of filters, transitions and easy learning curve, so for some quick small editing it's more than enough. Plus the organizer and the face recognition certainly worth the money.

DaVinci Resolve is a high quality professional vid... (show quote)

Thanks! I've use Premiere Elements for a long time. I'm on a project to learn Premiere Pro. For routine videos, the end picture quality is the same. The difference is in the controls and tools. Some things in Elements seem better. For example, adding a background music track or the Ken Burns pan and zoom effect are easier. Pro has compound levels of media organization that are over kill for what I do.

I think I will avoid the temptation of trying out Resolve. Too much video stuff is swimming around in the brain pool as it is.
