From last year... The throw to third was in plenty of time. The runner was out by the proverbial mile and was called out. However, I don't think the runner was ever tagged and it led to awkward ending to the play. When the throw beats the runner by that much you will be called out.
Appears as if no tag was made, but the ball WAS there for a long time.
Nice capture!

Saw a play like this in a HS game. The third baseman had the ball in plenty of time and was waiting for the runner. The runner slowed as he got close to the base and when the fielder nonchalantly reached out for the tag, the runner dove head first under the fielders arm for the bag.
Smart base runner, lazy fielder. โIt ainโt over til itโs over.โ
Revealing action. Clearly the initial tag was missed but when the runner falls off the bag, there is a tag & heโs definitely out.
Glad I'm not the ump. Tough call with static shots. The glove may have grazed the inner thigh between shots 4 & 5. JMO :) Oh! so what was the call?

Nice captures following the play until it was over.

Runner was called out. It was a junior college game so they had one ump and he was trailing behind so from his vantage point it was an easy call. He just waited to make sure the 3rd baseman didnโt drop the ball.
Great series. Thanks for sharing. Paul
