Standing in backyard this morning, could hear the sounds of a plane.
Staring looking and spotted this bird that was pretty high, but was going to pass overhead.
Probably a well known bird, but I have never encountered this type in my area.
Roseate Spoonbill. They are pretty common.

It's a Roseate Spoonbill, common in Texas, Florida, and Louisiana.
I've seen photos posted to UHH, but never this direct overhead view. How cool!

It was a surprise ... occasionally will see an egret pass by, but have never seen that type in my area.
... and if not for the sound of the plane, doubt I would have seen it.
Flying pretty high, luckily had my longest lens.
