Does anyone have an acute matte viewing screen for a hasselblad 500cm for sale? Looked at eBay which appears to be pricy. Thanks. Richard
They are pricy, especially for what they are, but that is just Hasselblad. I may still have mine after I switched from the acute matte screen to the split image/microprism one. I will check. If I still have it I will take $150 for it, it is in mint condition.
What model is it? I would love to find the acute matte D 42215. But may still be interested in what you have. Thanks for your reply. Richard Berman
I will look for it tomorrow morning but I believe it is the standard plain matte screen, no split image or microprism, just the ground glass with crosshairs. The one I have in their now is the one with the split image and microprism and crosshairs.
I believe the one with split screen and micro prism is the model 42215 that I am looking for. The one you have is the 42165 I think. (There is that model on EBay for $140 that can be had for $100). I have heard that model has a reputation of being hard to focus. My understanding is that was the reason Hasselblad came out with the D series of screens with the focusing aids like split Screens and micro prisms. I have purchased a PME viewfinder that is metered to a acute matte screen so that is my dilemma. What has been your experience using the screen you have for sale ? Thanks again for your input Peace. Richard Berman.

The plain acute matte screen was very difficult and slow to focus (lots of back and forth) critically unless there was a lot of light. That is why I switched it out for the split image and microprism screen. Focusing is a snap with that one.
Believe it or not, it was easier to focus my 250mm f/5.6 than the 80mm f/2.8 because even though the screen was darker, the depth of field was considerably less so it was more discriminating. Now with both the split image and microprism both are a snap, indoors and out.
Thanks for your honest answer, SM. So it’s time to sell me the one you have in your camera. Ha ha. I guess I’ll keep looking for the model 42215 My eyes Are 75 years old and need all the help they can get. Thanks again for your honesty. Peace and good health. Richard Berman
You too, good luck with your search! IIRC I got that split image/microprism screen on FleaBay for around $325. And awful lot for just a focusing screen but Hasselblad is like Porche, BMW or Mercedes, the parts for it will kill you!
