I was given a unit as a gift. It is meant to be a backup and editing unit.
I love photography mostly nature and wildlife and especially birds but would classify myself as a keen amateur.
I have never been able to use it efficiently or find a purpose for having it.
Am I missing the point in owning this product?
I would appreciate comments and advice. Thanks.
David

If you decide not to use it I will gladly purchase it from you. I travel frequently and it makes for a great travel backup. Thank you, K

The GNARBOX is a way to store/backup your images when you do not have other means to do the same task, like a computer or a laptop. I do not consider it to be a device on which to do any editing.

Here is a link to another review. Note that the second generation model gets better ratings than the first model.

https://photographylife.com/reviews/gnarbox-2-0-ssd

I wish I owned one as it will accept images from XQD cards via the correct card reader, a USB type C. More details on GNARBOX 2 and accessories are here:

https://www.bhphotovideo.com/c/product/1521410-REG/gnarbox_gnar1024v2_xqd_kit_2_0_ssd_1tb_rugged.html/overview

I own and use a similar product, ColorSpace UDMA2, but it does not accept XQD cards.

Contact GNARBOX if you have any questions on how to use it or are not sure what accessory/card reader you might need. They are very helpful.

Hi Kalima,
I am in AZ at present and the GNARBOX is in Denver.
I can contact you when we return to Denver in a couple of months.
When I travel ( that is when travel was possible!) I download my photos onto my iPad.
Thanks
David

I use mine for a backup for my photos when traveling. The unit has a lot more capabilities. Their website has a great number of very clear videos showing the different capabilities and how to use them. It’s worth checking their website out. Their technical folks are very helpful. It a very solid product in my opinion.
