A portrait of an Okapi at the Cheyenne Mountain Zoo, Colorado Springs, CO

This tight crop instantly brought the title to mind.

The title relates to the novel by H.G.Wells, “The Island of Dr. Moreau”.

Okapi? I'll take your word for it.

‘Tis an interesting beast, the Okapi ! It’s a short-necked member (of the giraffe family)that lives in dense African forest habitat... the Congo. It was discovered as a newly recognized species at around the penultimate fin de cicle. A tan coat with white stripes on the hindquarters / hind legs. Beautiful camouflage for a dense forest dweller.

"Okapi" Bantu swear word with "It ducked!"

Couldn't stop myself.

Seriously, I can see the suggestion. A bit more saturation?

This is an intriguing shot, Uuglypher. You got me thinking about ".....Dr. Moreau". I can't remember if I ever read the book, but I did see the movie (there might have been more than one...). I remember that Dr. Moreau's "test subjects" were really creepy, as is the way you shot your subject. Good photo, just creepy......

Hi. Srt,

“ Creepy”?

Hot damn! My visualization was spot-on!
I was trying to capture a human-like aspect to this animal portrait ... which, I guess, is sort of “creepy”.
Mission accomplished?

Dave
