What a crock of sh*t. When will this hysteria ever end?

So folks payed extra to buy a NikonUSA model instead of 'gray market' so they could get it serviced if and when they needed and now they can't get them serviced.
I can't say I blame them. I wouldn't want to handle something coming in from God knows who these days.

LOL!
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dTtMcTd2SJ8Going to be more inconveniences, but we'll make it!
This is not a crock. Look at Italy. Look at Spain. The countries that have gone through this pandemic and life is returning to normal like South Korea closed down. Follow all the medical advice given stay home and keep social distance. Due this for all our lives.

Agreed. COVID-19 is growing faster in the U.S. than in Italy. By mid-April there could be 1.3 million confirmed cases at the present rate. That would mean by the end of April we will be looking at 40+ million. Another way to appreciate this disease is this: Globally it took 67 days to reach 100K infected. 11 days for the next 100K and only 4 days for the next 100 K. Right now the globe has almost 400,000 cases.
This is not our first pandemic -- nor the last.
In addition to evolving diseases in wildlife, humans, and jumping species, there is also the threat of bioterrorism.
Was Nikon correct or overly cautious? We won't know that until we see how the others fared. If nothing else, Nikon provides an alternative to evaluate.
This is our chance to learn and prepare for the next one. Focus on that, not brand loyalty and politics.
Not unreasonable at all. Many music stores are not accepting instruments for repair, nor are they letting customers handle instruments on display.
Fortunately, we can still buy online.

At this time I wouldn’t want to handle anything that has been up on someone’s face. IMO the repair can wait.
Some studies say the virus can survive up to 72 hours on surfaces. I agree Nikon's response is appropriate.
Which brings up a question.. what about the mail?
We are all still getting the mail. Who has sneezed or coughed on the mail?
Anyone know, does UV light disable the virus?

You probably touch things just like that dozens of times a day and don't even realize it.

Hands only and washed many times per day especially these days.

Hospitals are starting to try UV light to sanitize and re-use disposable PPE.

All of the hoods in my microbiology lab had UV disinfection. We used to wipe down the hoods at the end of the day with alcohol towels and turn on the UV and let it run overnight. It was very effective.
I'm going to spray mail and packages with a Clorox mixture. I have lots of that but very little alcohol.
