Beautiful shot. It would be nice to have a little bit more 'head' or room in front of the beak.

Excellent photo, love the perfect placement of the shadow on the far wing! This just demonstrates the principle of "Yes, luck is involved with great photos, but good photographers get lucky more often." The angle of the sun had to be just right, and the bird had to be passing at just the right altitude, distance, and angle relative to the photographer's position. The photographer had to be in just the right place at the right time with the right equipment at the right settings to get this photo. In the event of shooting, I'm sure the photographer was not even thinking, "Let's see if I can compose the shadow of the bird perfectly on his wing." But the fact that he did makes this photo far more interesting to me, than just another perfectly shot photo of a passing bird.

Gorgeous shot, and I’m sure it’s not cheating when it’s off a video......🤓

The shadow was a bit of luck, but the shot was not! I waited in the right spot for about 45 mins and in the right light (I woke up at 5am est to be there at sunrise).
Thanks for the comment!

Well for this picture I wanted to focus on the bird and the light. I have other pictures where I do give more room in front of the beak (it is in. the YouTube video).
